Well, I posted this in the trade and swap forum and didn’t get much traction, so I thought I would switch to tools and see if I could get the word out here. Please forgive if this is not the best place for the notice… OK then…

I am posting to let those in the KY, WV, TN, VA, & OH areas know about this week’s auction of a long-time woodworker’s estate happening here in East Kentucky. This was a fellow that was an engineer by trade and was very kind to his tools. I met the couple a few years ago as a real-estate appraiser and remember commenting to my wife that evening that I had just seen the holy grail of wood-shops. He sadly passed away a few months ago and his wife wanted the tools to go to “someone that will use them” not some lowball vulture that only wanted to resell them.

So, I am going to attend next saturday and I am extending an invitation to all who might want to attend. I will meet anyone that would like to come along at the Lowes store in Pikeville, KY at 8AM by the garden center. The auction is set to start at 10 and it is a 20 minute drive so in order to get a quick look at everything before the bidding begins we will all have to vamoose by 8:30 at the latest. I have uploaded some pictures of the shop as I saw it at the first of the month if you want to get an idea of what’s there. Stuff I personally saw there; old ww mags, stickered lumber, spindle sander, large planer, hollow chisel, DP, BS, clamps, finishes, cyclone dust system, many many hand tools all of which are excellent quality.

OK, enough for now, please respond in this topic if you are interested in meeting up for this opportunity or if you have any questions. I am only going to wait at Lowe’s if I get posted responses here, OK?

BTW, I have NO financial interest in this auction, if I had wanted to make out like a bandit I would have just kept my mouth shut and walked away with everything for a song. As I said I am only trying to get some interested folks to attend so some schmuck does not buy it all for scrap value or something equally sad. OK, Let me know… NRT
