Need some advice. Building a chest with a heavy, 3/4” solid maghaony lid weighing about 20 lbs. Putting in on a piano hinge but need to provide some assist in lifiting the lid. I have seen and used hinges that keep a lid in place which prevent it from slamming on fingers but have not seen anything that can help a 2 year old lift a 20 lb lid. yet provide the other function of keeping the lid in place at whatever position.

I just finished building a solid maghaony hope chest for my god-daughter and used the Torsion Hinges from Rockler for the lid:

While the hinges do not assist in lifting the lid, the lid will stay in place at whatever position.
