I had a fantastic piece of spalted maple that I was going to use as the seat to a rocking chair I’m building. The sawmill claimed it was kiln dried – now I don’t know how dry it actually was. After aclimating to my house for nearly 2.5 months (and warping/checking during that time), I managed to get the pieces for the seat I needed. After planing/sanding, they cupped over 1/8” – and it was only 9.5” wide! It appears as though my attempts to wrestle these boards into usable shape are failing, so I need some more wood.
Need: Heavy spalt (but not all spalt and ugly) 1” thick (after planing), 9.5” wide x 44” long. DRY!!
Any help is most appreciated!
