So, I currently have an ancient 4” rockwell/delta jointer with 1/3 hp motor that I’m considering upgrading. You can imagine the usability of this tool isn’t great. However, I do have a DW735 that I use for most of my flattening with a jig.

I just found a Ridgid Jointer that looks pretty nice with a shelix cutterhead on it, for $325.

My question? Should I, or should I not?

I could save the cash for other projects, but I’m just curious if this is a great deal or just my cash burning a hole in my pocket?

Before I hear any “wait for the cash for an 8” jointer” remarks…keep in mind that my “shop” is a one car garage that even when empty doesn’t fit my subaru forester. A jointer that’s bigger than a 6” just won’t fit. And I truly mean that. As it is, I’ll have to roll it around quite a bit to use and store it. It’ll probably rest in front of my router table.

Thoughts?

With a shelix that is a nice price.
