Topic tags/keywords: resource walnut cedar milling

Got a bunch of Claro Walnut from a friend of mine the other day. Could not believe how much wood he gave me. Very generous man.

Here are some pics of most of it. Did not get pics of it all.

Look at the grain in this stuff.

Got some great turning blanks and pen/finial blanks also.

Also got a couple of pieces of walnut 1/2 X 10×48 and 1/2×10 x 74.
Along with 6 Aromatic Cedar boards 1/2 X 6×36

Some of the Walnut has been air drying in a barn for 30+ years! The rest is fresh cut from a Claro Walnut Root Ball.

I sure love this web site that has made me friends with such wonderful people.

Thank You to all who share the knowledge and wood.

Scrappy

Wow, that is quite a friend, and a generous one too! Lots of fantastic and beautiful wood there.

What will you be making for them as a thank you?

If you think that looks good now- just wait until you’ve got it turned and polished up, it will look like a million bucks!

You’ll have a hard time deciding which piece to use first. That’s a good friend! My Dad always said you have to be a good friend to have good friends.

Wow, that is a lot of ‘gifting!’ You’ll have to make him something nice in return. Gorgeous grain on those samples. Get to turning!
