I wanted to introduce myself, I am michael, I own a urban lumber outfit in northern ohio. I have done some building but I do not lay claim to craftsmen. what I do do is sell, and or give lumber away, sort of. because of our harvest and processing practices we can turn a high quality lumber and do so almost grid free. what we do that is a bit different is that if you are unlike me, and are actually talented. I will proved you with lumber, you build a functional piece of furniture, return it to me and I will sell it and then give you 50% of the final sale price. the guys I have a working relationship with have unlimited access to my lumber, and they bring back all their scraps too, including sawdust. I am just starting out and still looking for some more talented builders.
if this sounds interesting to you, I would love to work with you, and if not I am just pleased to be here and to see the great stuff you guys are doing. on a side note I have donated lumber, transportation, and crane services to a project at U of toledo. where they are designing a water wheel for a older gentlemen who millls pancake mix which is then used to run a annual local pancake breakfast where the proceeds support the V.F.W. hall. if any of you are skilled in this old form of building functional pieces lie this we could use the expertise, although this one is not going to be sold so there will not be any monetary reward.
thank for you time and I am glad to be here.

This sounds like a good idea. Welcome to Lumberjocks.

Sounds like a good concept for someone local to you who needs help in this economy. I would question the 50% of sale price to you for supplying materials, but coupled with a commission for selling, it could be fair. Some places have asked for a 40% share for selling my work. I have to raise my prices to get my selling price. That can put the selling price very high. hopefully someone can make a living with your offer. Good Luck

-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and now time to work!!!

I would like to visit your business. I’m semi-retired and just getting started in making furniture.
I’m in North Canton.
