Topic tags/keywords: suggestion

When someone looks at a LumberJocks home page they are greeted by their “Latest” project. For me the “Latest” project is usually just the latest project I finally got around to taking pictures of. It’s rarely the latest project that I built and it’s almost never the first thing I want someone to see if they are looking at my home page, especially for the first time.

I’d really like a feature that allowed me to tag one of my projects as my “Best” project and have that displayed on my home page. It could be any one project that I have posted and feel is the best representation of the kind of work I do, or the project I’m most proud of, or whatever reasoning I choose. I would still like the latest project to be there so folks can readily see what’s new but I think that should be less prominant.

I really Like that Idea, how would we get Martin to do that one? This site is already the best one out their in cyber Space.

I think the best way to get Martin to implement this is to start a thread like this and get enough people to respond in agreement.

I agree it’s the best woodworking site in cyberspace and I’d love to be able to use it as a portfolio of my work. But to do that i have to be able to select the cover photo.

Its obvious this site did not get great by show casing only the best projects. I vote to keep it the same. New people want to see the good and the bad. I agree put something to the side for the most viewed or best but on the front page keep it the same. I personally don’t want some peoples stuff focused on here more than others when their just popular on LJ’s. I can see a ego growing by doing this.

Resurrected, I think you misunderstood. This would only affect a member’s own home page… not the main projects page.

Resurrected, you totally missunderstood. This is only about each persons own home page showing their choice of their own projects.

NBeener, you can always choose your latest project to be the one you want displayed so you wouldn’t be any more screwed than always. ;-)

Ah ya ya got it. Just went back and read it again. Sorry I’d retract my statement if i could, Yes that would be a nice tool for customizing your area. Like they say measure twice cut once. It should be read twice then make statement. Sorry again guys.
