Looks very gimmicky to me. I can’t help but wonder what happens when it hits a hard knot and gets kicked out of alignment.

Well, there’s gotta be some believers out there seeing as how they’ve raised $484,703 of their $90,000 goal.

If it works as good as the claims, it’d have to be pretty darn cool, don’t you think Loren? Seems like the user would be free of allot of the constraints associated with a large, complex, stationary machine. What am I missing here?

I have to confess the only application I would have
for a CNC is making templates or making 32mm
cabinets. This machine might be up to making
templates but I think would be too slow for nested
cabinet making.

I’m also concerned about wood and metal chips
throwing off the cut as they get under the wheels.

Pipe dream. The technology and software would be worth something, once proven, but that little robot would be very light duty. I don’t use CNC but I suspect that if you compared the positives and negatives of traditional CNC versus an autonomous CNC robot, traditional will win.

It might not be the best for the wood industry,
but it would be darn good for the sign industry cutting Plexiglass.
I agree about debris getting under the wheels though. I descent fan blowing on the work might help though.

MDF has knots :>/

There’s probably a lot of uses that it would be good for, but it’s not to replace a CNC machine

It would need exceptionally good chip collection or it will constantly be moving up and down as it rolls across debris. They attach several tethers or lines to the robot so it’s not truly autonomous. You will still need a dedicated cutting area and you will still need to move the sheet stock. It will have to run on battery power. I would also guess it’s really slow. I just don’t see it being useful as a cnc machine, but maybe for something else.

I have a fairly small CNC router and it probably has something like 50 times the drive capability of that little wheeled thing. In order to achieve any speed, you have to really push the bit through the wood. That thing would be extremely slow and prone to getting bumped out of position. When that happens, you have sheet of scrap on your hands.

It is such a shame that so many people get duped out of their money supporting these ill conceived ventures. I just think of all the people who wasted hundreds of dollars investing in the Glowforge “3-D” laser printer.

I have to agree with MickNM and Loren!
It looks slow and tedious; not as quick as dropping another sheet on the work surface.
Shaper | Origin with wheels!
I my opinion, it really doesn’t have any great advantage over the Handibot and the Handibot it probably faster!
