I have been getting some weird links in many of the posts. I do not think the authors are putting them in but they show up on various words and are links to advertisers. This only shows up on LJ and not on any other forum I belong to. It shows up on both my tablet and computer. Below is an example of what I am talking about.

How do I get rid of them?

Interesting, I just posted this with no links in it and when I went to look at the post, there was a hyperlink on “tablet and computer” in my post.

Yup I been seeing these hyperlinks on LJs for a few weeks now. Not sure when (or how) they started. Never had them on my computer because I always thought my popup blocker was doing its job.

Maybe the LJs site owners changed something in their programing that lets them in now. I’m sure it helps pay for forums like this.

I think Google search engine puts them there or what ever advertising client the site uses.

Links have the format <quote>Link<quote>:http://somesite.com/whatever.html where <quote> is the quote mark ” (I had to do it that way, otherwise it shows as a link, not the link construct).

I’m not sure if that helps. I also don’t know what other forms might be interpreted as a link on here. Kind of makes me wonder if you’ve been infected by some adware scam. Try it on a different browser if possible, and see if you can find any information on checking and cleaning your browser.

Viglinks have been here for years, but as I mentioned in previous report a few years back, they are not supposed to be displayed to members. I have sent in a report, but being the weekend it may be Monday before this can be fixed.

I will keep you updated.

Here is another one to Opt out of as well, if you wish.

Be sure to turn off any add blocking you may have beforehand.

Even though I had opted out earlier, I too noticed that the links reappeared a few weeks ago. When I went to the op-out site, it said that I was opted in again. Seems like it was decided that everyone’s opt-out had expired!

I will wait for Cricket to straighten it out—I am fed up with all these “click and fix” and only to reappear.
With that said I am going to the “forum” “Its Saturday night”...

This “should be” resolved. If you see it happen again, please send me a message so that I can get to the bottom of why this has been happening.
