I have been going through the project section and I see these gorgeous little boxes called Grease Pots.

Please educate me. What is a grease pot and what is it used for?

Early jointers used tallow on the soles of their wooden planes to lessen drag.
Many were quite inventive and artistic as to style, closure and shape.

This is a good little video of Roy Underhill making and explaining grease pots.
Roy is one of the many colorful characters amongst the woodworking world.
