Topic tags/keywords: wine box gift

My father is getting married in about 2.5 months, and I’ve decided to give them some of my homemade wines as a gift. Of course, that dictates a suitably nice box…. cardboard just doesn’t cut it. Just go make one you say? The problem is that the shop that I have access to happens to be in Dad’s basement. He’s more than willing to let me visit and use it whenever I’d like, but how do I keep a project like this a secret so its still a surprise?

Along a related note, I’ve been browsing through some of the boxes in the projects gallery, and these two caught my eye. Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions for a nice multibottle wine case (I’m thinking 6 at this point)?

How to hide it? Do what I did…..hide it in plain sight :) Remember the jewelry box I did for the contest? Well…. my wife was under the impression it was for a client, and actually helped me on the design decisions!

Tell your dad that you have a paying project to do…or that you are making a wedding gift….or something along those lines, and you need his shop. To make things even better: Ask him to help!

The gift will A: Be a total surprise (even though he helped build it ;) )
B: Have his input so you will suit his tastes 100%
and
C: Mean more to him as a result of the time you got to spend together building it. When he sees the box, he’ll not only remeber his event, but the time with his son as well.

HTH,

Ryan

I whole-heartedly agree with Ryan. The memories made will make it all the more special.
