First, thank you to everyone over the past week or so who has offered their opinion regarding some tool purchases. Right when I was thinking that our local Craigslist was just not the place to find good tools, I stumbled upon someone selling a new in box, never opened Ridgid JP0610 6” jointer. I was thrilled to get it for $200 and, for FYI anyone without a truck, the pieces will all fit in the trunk of a Camry (once you open the box, obviously) ;-)

Now, there’s someone else downsizing his shop operations. Selling a DW735 and a Jet 22-44 on Craigslist. Said he bought the planer a few years ago for one project, hasn’t flipped the original knives, and it’s been sitting for at least a year unused. Asking $275 for the planer (but said it was slightly negotiable), and $1100 for the drum sander, which seems high and may be more machine than I really need …

Any thoughts on the planer and drum sander? I could get a new DW734 for about the same price he’s currently asking for the used DW735, so I’m not sure which would be the better deal.

Thanks in advance!

That is a good price on the 735 imo, if it is in good shape.

I haven’t seen one on CL in my area for less than 350 for the last 8 months or so I have been looking anyway. I see the dw735 listed for 400 fairly often which I think is too high for used. Then again my area rarely has decent ww tools listed for a price I would pay for used anyway. Mostly construction and mechanical tools plus your odd and end craftsman. I

Have your say...
