Topic tags/keywords: rough cut tommy mac water world kbtc 12 seattle tacoma woodwright woodsmith pbs dvd webcast kcts 9

We are in luck here in the Pacific NW. KBTC ch 12 in Seattle Tacoma area broadcast their first episode of Tommy today at 1 PM :-))

On the flip side, it seems Woodwright and Woodsmith are MIA or AWOL ;-(( I did email Woodsmith about the apparent abandonment of woodworking by PBS in the NW. Their response said they remain committed to supporting PBS. They have no plans for DVDs or webcasts at this time; however, they are constantly reassessing :-)) There is always hope.

Edit: Guess I should spend more time looking at the TV!! Looks like KCTS Ch 9 has him at 4;30 too!

Hey thanks for the heads up! I got it loaded into my DVR schedule.

A couple months ago I found a download of all of the Woodsmith shop shows. Since they don’s sell them and don’t have commercials I didn’t feel to bad downloading them at no cost. 4 season worth and some of their shop talks in all. If you check Youtube I think you can find some of their stuff as well.

Just watched my second episode of Tommy Mac’s show. Great, although I think I scared my family with my enthusiasm for watching it LOL!

Well Bob,

I missed the 1 pm program as I checked my e-mail at 2 pm then I missed the 4:30 notice as I checked my e-mail at 5:10. I don’t know Tommy Mac so I don’t even know what I missed.

As for the woodsmith shop, I am on dish and get the show on CH. 28. My last recording was on the 22. I have taped them to VCR and have about 16 programs if you want to watch them.

On another point, have you used the Rockler sign jig and if so how did you tape them to the wood?

Down here in Portland Woodsmith comes on the Create channel Tuesday mornings around 8:30. I did notice that it wasn’t on this afternoon on the local PBS station. It’s really too bad because they had some really good tips and projects. They’ll probably replace it with some stupid show that glorifies teen pregnancy. Oh well I’ll just have to wait for the Woodsmith magazine each month.

John, No I haven’t used one, but I suppose you could double back tape it, eh ? ? ?

Google Tommy MacDonald, Rough Cut, He did a few utube vids about hand tools, He is good. I was a bit surprised to see the pace of Tommy as compared to the other WW icons. He doesn’t spend a lot of time standing by the dedicated mortiser :-))

The Woodwright’s Shop was pulled off with the new lineup that KBTC began the 1st of January 2011. It was pulled to make room for Tommy Mack, but shouldn’t have been one of the shows pulled to make room in my opinion. I am growing to like the new show, but miss Roy. The other shows (Hometime only SD, This Old House, and Ask This Old House) are available in the market on both of the stations KBTC, and KCTS, primary channels as well as some commercial stations. If you want the show back please e-mail them @ programing@kbtc.org. They will listen. I am on the inside and my opinion has been the only one so far, and hasn’t seemed to matter much, but if the outcry is big enough, it will be put back on, in high definition and in the lineup on Saturdays where we all want it. Tell your friends.

I met him today at the Woodworking Show which is in Kansas city. Seems like a real down to earth guy. Then came home and he has been all day here too on PBS.

Thanks for the info, I’ll email them. I always wondered why they both run the sdame shows in the same market a couple of times??
