I’m looking for an edge guide for my Ridgid router but can’t seem to find one that’s made for it. I found a Porter-Cable edge guide that I like and think I’ve read somewhere it will work. Does anyone know if this is true? The edge guide is model 42690.

Can’t speak from first hand experience but I’ve read that the Ridgid router is compatable with all PC accesories

I’d be careful…my experience is that PC builds accessories to fit PC stuff. The guide comes with two sets of posts to accomodate different PC routers (I use mine on a 690). If you want me to measure the distance between the posts to see if it lines up with your router let me know. Just so you know, the PC router housing has two holes to accept the posts which are then secured with philips set-screws tapped into the housing 90 degrees from the posts. As a further FYI, even the screws seem to be unique to PC so don’t lose one because you won’t find them at the hardware store!.

If you could measure it that would be great.

I have the same router and I bought the PC edge guide they have at Home Depot. It works pretty good, I usually attached a longer piece of wood to make it more stable. I can’t remember how much it cost, but it wasn’t much. And Kent is right, I belive most of that router is compatiable for with PC stuff, especialy anything designed for the 690, such as bushings. Hope this helps.

I attached to a piece of 3/4” ply about 10” long. It cost about $50 several years ago. Truth is I rarely use it anymore since you will do better with a decent dado blade (on a decent table saw) or decent router bits with ball bearing guides. It does come in handy for edge work on material too thin to handle the bearing on the latter.

I managed to obtain an edge guide for a ridgid router from Home Depot. They sales clerk after some digging managed to get me one from from inventory in another store. I think they no longer make this item.
