Many, many years ago one of the wood workers type magazine published plans on how to build a cyclone separator. It included drawing on cutting the sheet metal. I saved it for years but due to a fire it was lost. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the plans or new plans that may be out there?

There is a guy selling sheet metal cyclone bodies on Ebay for about $200 plus $50 for shipping. It’s hard to justify the time and materials needed to build your own. The design looks to be based on the Bill Pentz plans.

I just looked at the one on Ebay and I think it looks pretty good. I have been thinking on what to do about dust collection in my new shop and I have been wanting to build a cyclone just like you are thinking. But now I look at that cyclone I can get to my door for $250 and think how much easier it would be to just buy that thing, buy a motor then add a bag your in business! Also, there were pictures on there where people have done just that and they looked pretty good to me.

Here is a link if you want to check it out real quick.
