I can’t believe it but my new grizzly jointer should be here in a couple weeks. I ordered this thing May 8th and have been waiting for some time now. I was getting ready to cancel the order so I called them and was told the news. To my surprise they said they would uncrate it, inspect an run it before they shipped it to me. I was also told they had another shipment of 1000 of them expected in Oct. So maybe they finally are getting caught up.

That happens a lot. Most of these companies import, thus the need for a final quality check. This is not always prefect, but better than the alternative! Good luck!

I have a Grizzly jointer and can’t believe they test every one?? As there’s a decent amount of assembly required.

Sounds like BS.

Something is fishy about that story. I don’t believe for a second they test run every unit. I recently bought jointer from them; had it been tested it never would have made it to me in the condition it was in (my review is posted if you want more info.)

Any chance they’re giving you a returned unit, or refurbished unit, and they want to test it?

I couldn’t believe it either but that’s what I was told. I really don’t care if they do or don’t, its got to pass my test before I’m satisfied. I’ll just be glad to get it, its been a long wait hope it will be worth it. I hope the shelix cutting head works as well as I’ve been told they do.

This…..I wouldn’t wait four months for a “free” Powermatic, let alone a purchased Grizzly,......that said, I had a Grizzly jointer and it worked fantastic.

Actually it doesn’t surprise me. If this is the first arrival of a new batch they would go through a certain amount to make sure that the new batch is meeting the standard of the order.

Now, if this was something that has been in stock and been sold for a long time I would be skeptical but I do know that many times, the delays and backorders have to do with moving to new manufacturing facilities so they would definitely be doing quality control upon arrival of the first new units.

Shelix heads are awesome. Just make sure and follow the directions when turning the cutters and kelp the seat clean and you won’t have problems.

I’m sure they don’t test everyone – I suspect they do some quick math to figure out the sample size required to be 95% sure everything is good and then only test that random batch. We also don’t know what “test” entails. It’s likely not a full assembly and run through – probably a straight edge against infeed and outfeed, and a quick on off test on the motor.

Either way though, great news that yours is on the way!
