Topic tags/keywords: question veneering paper backed

I’m going to be making a 25×66 panel for a desk top I’m building. I plan to use some figured veneer for the top and I know I need to balance with a backer veneer for the down-side. My question is simple. If I use veneer on the top that does not have a paper back, will it cause a problem if I use paper backed veneer on the bottom side?

I have a vacuum press and have done lots of veneer work before but I’ve never used paper-backed. This will be the largest panel I’ve done and I will need to glue up strips of veneer for the top, but I would like to get one big piece of veneer for the bottom.
