Topic tags/keywords: stanley miter box

I got a Stanley 358 mitre box in trade recently and when I looked up the manual I saw that the 358 features a length stop, which I didn’t have. Bought one on eBay, and then later I happened to be in the basement and examined my mitre box to see how the thing attaches.

On mine, at least, it seems it doesn’t. There are no holes for the rod to pass through.

Taking a closer look I see that mine has the name plate in the side rather than on the front. So maybe this one pre-dates the stop feature. I don’t know, so I’m asking. :)

I don’t know about the age of the mitre box but was going to say that if what you have is a stand (tree) for the 358 and you end up not needing it, I might be interested if you want to sell it. I recently found a Wards box that is very similar to the 2358 I think it is and my wards box didn’t have the tree.

Kwixson, do you have a picture of your 358 mitre box?

Mike,

Here’s what I have.

BlasterStumps,

I do have the stand and might need to unload it if I can’t use it.

Thanks!
Kevin

There is a metal disk in the deck. The metal stop attaches to it. Metal can be one of these..

Like I have on a #2246 box….Yours would mount to that metal disc in the bed.

Nice mitre box. I believe Bandit called it on the length stop hookup for that one. Very cool box indeed.
