Topic tags/keywords: coffee bean

My wife and I went to the Woodcraft store in Charlotte NC a couple of weeks ago. She found a coffee bean blank and wants me to make a scoop for her. I swore I wouldn’t use this blank, but if mama’s happy…well you know the rest. My question is how to turn this without blowing the beans out and how to finish to a high gloss and still retain the aroma? I have used C/A in the past, but I know this will seal it. Any help is appreciated.

I don’t think there is any good way to seal it AND retain the aroma. There may be a small amount that will penetrate the finish (like moisture will do) but how much and how noticeable it will be is something you may only find out by trying it with several different finishes.
After reading the reviews, most of which were negative BTW, I found nothing about the finished pens and the aroma.
Good luck, have fun!
