Topic tags/keywords: question

Now that we have 2 options to deal with offensive postings, which do you think is the better option. Myself I find the Flag button a better option as it lets the administrators be aware of potential problems occurring in posts. As it would allow administrators to either close a topic or delete an offensive posting. So what are your thoughts and opinions on the subject?

We had a relatively short period of time when offensive messages were a problem on this board. That appears to be over with. I hope it does not become an issue again. When/if it does, I’ll deal with it then.

I have seen some offensive stuff on here. What a shame.

I read a new members profile (he just posted a blog on wearing dust masks) and on it he is calling another Lumber Jocks member a profanity. Is this really called for? Just because the LJ member blocked him. I guess he is showing us why he got blocked.

Lumber Jocks is a place to have fun.

I say use both the flagging and the blocking.

It doesn’t matter to me too much one way or the other. I try not to offend anyone and I hope they will do the same for me.

The reason I posted this question was because I was wondering if there were a need for 2 buttons that are similar in nature and yet each is different. It wasn’t meant about who’s flagging or blocking who, or about offending anyone, but about function of 2 buttons. That had my curiosity of having both buttons.

An easy way to differentiate the two:

The Block button is a very personal thing, affecting YOU and the person that you block. If you block somebody, they’re no longer your buddy, cannot BE your buddy, cannot post on YOUR threads, and cannot send YOU Private Messages (PM’s).

Flagging a post sends that POST to the administrators and moderators of that site, but has no DIRECT effect on either you, the post, or the author OF the post.

Neil Nailed It!! They are here for 2 Entirely different reasons, as he Explained Very Well.

(I was giong two say “Succinctly” Neil, butt I’m knot shure how too Spill it.)

Now I’m going to see what “woodcompass’ is talking about because I Posted on there telling Him he is right and thanked him. BYE BYE!!!

Rick

Well! I had a look and I guess he and Scott “Whoever” didn’t get along. So What?

  • “woodcompass”* perhaps we think differently but I didn’t see anything in his Profile that “I” would consider “calling another Lumber Jocks member a profanity.” Where’s the profanity “word” DUDE? (What is that DUDE word suppose to mean?) You’ve been on here for 16 Hours now. Stick around. I’m sure you’ll see some REAL Profanity.

Also his profile stated that he was Dyslexic, Maybe that’s the reason his Spelling, as you pointed out to him, is not Perfect and then this…”Dude, I read your profile. Take off the profanity” ...Hello! We are also NOT here to tell other LJ’ers what to say or what not to say.

If YOU want to… “I say use both the flagging and the blocking.” Knock yourself out! I refuse to use either.

Have a Nice One All: Rick

PS: Forget the above BOLDING. Something is going wrong on here. It’s BOLDING the stuff I DIDN’T Highlite and NOT BOLDING the Stuff I DID Highlite and I can’t remove any of it. Sorry about that.

You got it Neil. Now, If I block you and retaliate by blocking me, there sould be a reblock to retaliate:-)) ;-))

IMO, these subjects are best left alone. There are a few who will always get out the flame throwers ;-(

Forgot to mention that you probably know what happened when Antony tried to impress Cleopatra? He burned the great library at Alexandra by accident!! Or was that Cesar? Anyway, the fire got totally out of control and set civilization back at least 1,000 years.

Sun’s coming out.

It might be a touch windy, but it’s also nearing 50 degrees F—a nice day for me to go get some Vitamin D—BEFORE, that is, I start milling the walnut and maple for the box I’m about to make :-)

Rick Just using a facetious analogy of where these threads go in general. Nothing to do with you or WC.
