Does it take the same amount of wood for a regular cutting board as an end cut 20”x30”?

it can if you are using 1 inch thick pieces and you want the new board once inch if that makes sense for example

You will need more wood since you are making a lot more cuts. Number of cuts x 1/8” kerf waste is the extra length you will need.
