There no pop up ads running on this site and WE WILL NEVER RUN POP UP ADS. If your getting them it's either something local on your computer or some ad code that we don't know about.
What was the ad for and if you could send me a screen shot that would be helpful so I can try and figure out what type of ad it is.
I use Firefox and have pop-ups blocked, though I still do see some pop-ups on news sites (Netflix is the biggest offender) even with Firefox.
IMO, IF I start seeing and having to deal with pop-ups on LJs you can bet that my LJ time will cease and that all of my time will be spent in the woodshop!
Again, we never run pop up ads. If an advertiser ever comes to us and asks for pop up ads we turn them down. Right now we are only running Google Adsense which doesn't show pop up ads at all and a few of Martin's old ads so I'm not sure how you guys could be seeing pop ups.
As Nathan said, there is no intention to run pop-ups here and ruin LJ experience. I never did that in the past too. If you ever see a pop-up that is directly related to LJ please submit a screenshot so we can track it down.
Thanks Nathan. That's kind of what I was thinking. I am worried the question may have people assuming popups are being added when they aren't. Everyone is all bent out of shape worrying about changes that are not even happening.
I use Google Chrome got tired of IE and firefox taking so long to load.
(checking for updates and too many tool bars I guess)
I have set third party cookies blocked as well as no pop ups.
Helps in running a fairly clean PC as well as updates to plug ins and Windows OS
If you click on the Carhartt's ad, my computer just says "popup blocked" (using Internet Explorer with popups blocked) Carhartt's needs to reconfigure their ad so it takes you to their site.
Trying to remember to click on those ads, and now I am pretty consistent, Martin….......(-:
As a reminder, part of the revenue for LJ's is generated by clicking on the ads. These are well screened and reputable vendors, thanks Martin, and I find interesting information and bargains from time to time.
I clicked on the ad for home depot's storage totes that are apparently on sale. I click when the ad interests me. This is pretty much the only site that has ads that interest me. I probably won't buy the totes online because of shipping, but I need more and plan to hit the store this week to get some of them.
Glad you got it worked out. Thanks for the update.
