Topic tags/keywords: jointer question

I burned up the motor on my fairly new jointer. There is no label plate on the motor. With the output rpm and the pulley sizes I can calculate the rest.

Typically a motor will run at 3450 RPM.

I’d contact the jointer manufacturer. You might want to look at bumping up the HP if you burned up the last one.

You might want to contact the manufacturer anyway, if you burned up the motor on your fairly new jointer… might be a defect they know about or would want to know about.

My old jointer used a 1725 RPM motor. Most full size 3 blade jointers run about 16k to 18k CPM (4 blade units are around 20k). This is cuts per minute, so divide by three to get RPM at the head. Then use the pulley size ratio to get the motor RPM. Better to check with Yorkcraft first.
