I’ve picked up some brass stock at a salvage yard that buys scrap metals. You might get lucky there. The only 1/4 brass I have I plan to do the same with it.

well friends I found a great place on the net that supplies brass and metal. Here is the link http://www.metalsdepot.com/ The cost of the brass for the sides and metal for the bottom only comes to 33.00. I am starting with a small hand plane that will be similar to one that was in shop notes. Here is that link http://www.shopnotes.com/issues/079/extras/brass-body-block-plane/ I am going to make my own lever cap out of brass that I have at the house. I am also going to dovetail the sides unlike the one in shop notes. It should be fun.
