When cleaning off the gunk used to prevent rust during shipment, how do you clean off the little cutter inserts that are on a spiral cutterhead? Should I take them all off and soak them, or should I use a toothbrush to try to clean them while installed on the spiral cutterhead? Just looking for experiences you all have had. Thanks,

laquer thinner works the best to me it evaps quickly pretty inexpenxive and leaves no residue but if its just on the knives myself i would run a scrap board though it and let it clean itself i sure somone will say i telling you wrong but on my jointer i just used it a couple of times and let the head clean itself wat little was left is just a rust preventive agent that helps keep the head itself rust free
