Please Jocks and Jockettes new and old… be considerate when posting projects… if you have a bunch of small pieces, group them on one post. If you have a number of large projects, spread posting them over a couple of days. There are other members who have worked long and hard on projects too, and deserve to be on the first or second “Project” page longer then a moment or two. Not criticizing, not ordering, just a plea to be considerate… that’s all.

New owner Nathan, maybe this is something we could post as a reminder/suggestion on the sign in window? I’m sure people don’t do it on purpose, and it is something easily forgotten by old members, or not realized by new ones.

Yeah. That idea has come up before, and then—as now—I can’t see a single downside to it.

I know it comes up regularly and people just need reminding. It’s like I said, I’m really not trying to be a curmudgeon here. But I think every project, from toothpick to Chippendale, deserves it’s 15 minutes of fame and/or attention on the front page. That’s all.

It’s a good suggestion- But here’s one back at you… PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t suggest that everyone should start crybabying to “Nathan” the “new owner” about every stupid little thing. But then again, perhaps some members will see that in the real world…..... that little PIA stuff is often ignored… perhaps as it should be. I grow weary of the “tattletale” syndrome that is rather pervasive around here.

You could get more exposure to projects and blogs if the off topic comments had a specific home of their own.
Why not bring back the ”coffee Lounge” rather than drive the projects off the front pages with prattle?

I am getting a bit frustrated with the lack of response to common sense here too!

Rivergirl, this thread is under SiteFeedback. I could care less who owns the site but reality dictates that his name is “Nathan” and he is “new”. Not crying at all. You are absolutely correct, let’s not over react or be overly sensitive to anything here… and certainly let’s not start issues that don’t exist. Thanks.

Let me point out that we have a steady steam of new members. The policy proposed is good but reminders have to come up on a regular basis so the new members get the message.

Which is why I suggested it for the “sign in” window Rich, so everyone always sees and is reminded of it. Another suggested, and perhaps better, place would be on the window that pops up when entering a new project.

By the way, the only reason I bring any of this up now is because it’s happened, unintentionally I’m sure, a number of times over the past few days. Whether it’s a stupid little thing or not is of course relative.

All my OLD projects are grouped together like desks, built-ins, gun cabinets, etc. Now I list as I build. My last project was listed 1 day ago and it is now four pages back already. I agree we should try to group projects up or spread them out. Bottom line, lot more people = lot more projects. One thing that bugs me more is people who list there projects on the blogs, unless it is a how to do blog.

Chip, good ideas, but ain’t gonna happen…..... not the way the site is now. Members post as much as they can when they can. Just the way it is. No one cares about being on the main page or anything.

jj, I have faith that ultimately, most people are still very considerate… when politely reminded. We all have opinions, some positive and some negative. I’ll stay positive, but thank you for commenting.
