I don’t want to rehash old news but I cant seem to find any new information or a good contact for the Freedom Pen Project, I searched through the site here and found a few posts from members interested in doing there part but it seems that they were not getting responses from the other end. Being a former Marine and wood turner this sounds like a great way to share our love for our hobby as well as our military families. I did come across a semi updated list of the years past and they did have some activities into 2010, but It no where as active as I thought it should be after all these years.

So, my questions are, 1) Is this still a live / on going project?

If it is I would love contact information please.

2) Weather or not it is still active, Is there any interest from the members here at Lumber Jocks to bring it back to life and make it happen again?

3) If all else fails Would others join me in bringing it back to life?

Thanks for your attention on this topic.

I am doing Freedom Pens now. I turned some pens yesterday. Here is a contact for you to get in touch with one of the people that is part of the National project. His name is Joe Kelly and his email is jhdk@cox.net. His Phone nr. is 225-664-5223. Another bit of info can be found at www.freedompens.org . Hope this helps out. Joe will send you 25 Slimline kits at no upfront cost. He ask that you send him a check for 37.70 to cover the cost of the pen kits and shipping. If you contact him he will explain everything to you.

-- When asked what I did to make life worthwhile in my lifetime....I can respond with a great deal of pride and satisfaction, "I served a career in the United States Navy."

Have your say...
