Since getting my Delta 36-725 it has blown a breaker twice and shut down once (thermally?) with hardly any use. The motor seemed to me a bit under powered and it got hotter than I thought it should with what little I put through it.

Today I was ripping some 3/4 popular and then cutting some 1/2” ply to make a sled and it shut down and seemed quite a bit hotter than it should be. I decided to take the plastic cover off the motor and take a look to see if it could see anything obvious and there was a spade lug not attached to anything.

I want to say that blue wire goes to where the other one goes also but don’t want to guess. Can anyone tell me for sure? Anyone have a wiring diagram?

If you hold the wire up does it have memory as to where it may fit? Also can you see any scratches on a spade where it may have been attached?

No scratches on either of the spades, it looks like it wants to go on the 2nd spade with the other blue wire but it could reach the one that has the red wire with no trouble.

It looks like it was never installed to me.

It will hook up to a cap… but where is anyones guess. I did find this picture which sort of looks like you are correct in the placement, but can’t really be sure. Best bet would be to call Delta and ask them.

To me from that picture the cap has the 2 blue wires on the one same terminal.

That was it, sounded better, cut better, and didnt heat up after I put that terminal back on.

That plastic shroud is a piece of garbage, I could not get that thing back on without pulling the terminal back off though.

Update I cut through quite a bit of 5/4 walnut, maple, and ipe today without a problem, motor felt like it wasn’t even used warmth wise.

THe spade lug did need crimping down so that it stayed on the cap better and I rerouted the wire around the power wire then I was able to get the plastic cover back on.

Have your say...
