Are DC filters universal or brand specific?

I found a good deal on a Delta canister filter for a Delta DC and want to know if it'll fit my HF DC.

It's a mechanical device and needs to fit in one way or another.

If the diameter of the filter is the same, or somewhat smaller, and there is a decent way to mount it, it will work.

Is the Delta filter .5 micron or better? If it isn't, pass.

If you look at the Wynn engineering site, they show examples of mounting filters not specifically designed for the HF on it. They specifically show a "Torit" style filter that had a smaller diameter than the HF ring, using a piece of MDF to adapt it.

Thanks Charlie. I tried looking online, but HF isn't the best when it comes to listing all the specs of the stuff they sell, so I haven't been able to find the exact filter dimensions. From looking at pictures of the Delta and HF collectors, they look about the same as far as physical size.

brtech, the canister filter is a 2 micron for $50. The bag I have on my HF DC now is the 5 micron it came with, and I figured that for the price, I couldn't really go wrong.
