Hi Lumberjocks, I have an Incra / woodpeckers router lift PRL-V2 with the magna loc plates. I have been using it for a few years without any issues and today I was running a Freud panel bit with a back cutter and while routing the router or router lift would drop down 1/16”. I checked to see if the router bit was loose and it is very tight and have not moved. I have also locked down the router adjustment wheel. Has anyone had this issue before? I called Woodpeckers for some help and they said to send it in and they would repair the problem. I would actually like to repair this issue myself if someone can help since I use the router often. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have the original PRL and the router is mounted via the body clamp to threaded rods. Given this arrangement, the only way I can see experiencing the 1/16” drop would be either the router bit slipping, the router body slipping in the PRL clamp, or something allowing the router armature to shift in the router body.

Seeing that you mentioned the bit is secure and that the armature shifting is very unlikely, I’d suspect that there is some slippage in the way the PRL clamps to your router body?

I talked to customer support for the second time and he helped me troubleshoot the issue. The culprit is the locking nut on the lifting carriage. He said that it is most likely my issue and he will be sending me out the part.

Splintergroup, I have checked my router clamp and it is secure. Thanks for the reply.

My JessEm has a split nut to allow retightening due to wear to eliminate backlash. That could have come loose or simply need to be retightened. Since they’re sending a new one, it sounds like you’re all set.
