I know this does not really belong on Skill Share, but I am thankful to all the wonderful LJs out there who take the time to share their skills and answer questions. I had some foot/ankle surgery back in September and spent 10 weeks on one foot. The week before the surgery I was busy preparing stock for a few projects that I was sure I would be able to do, even on one leg. Well that was not the case. The steps were terrible, so I pretty much did not go anywhere. I was able to work from home so there was no rush to get back there but I could not do anything in the shop. Weekends were the worst because during the week I worked and the time went faster, but the weekend was my time and I was losing it.

I have been a member for over two years and I read the posts when I had time, commented on some but was not really active. Well that changed and this site helped me keep my sanity. Other than my wonderful wife, who took care of me and did my share of the chores, this website was one of the good things that happened over this timeframe. I am back on both feet and have been in the shop, but I will continue to be part of this community.

Thank you all for making this site possible and enjoyable. I learned a lot and made a few friends too.

Happy New Year,

Hopefully you will be full “operational” soon. I am glad that LJ’s helped maintain your sanity – I lost mine long before LJ’s came along! Keep learning!

A wish from here for a good recovery. The body is an incredible thing. The brain, that organ we use to understand everything else but about which we know the least, even more so.

I love this site. It used to be that when I went into hardware store looking for a screw I felt intimidated by my lack of knowledge. Here I can admit it and get help. Now I walk into the hardware store with a bit of lumberjocks swagger.
