Title says it all. Great deal on the Ridgid combination stationary and plunge router set at Home Depot, at least in the Houston area.

THey may not make the tool with all the bells and whistles but, they make one heck of a good tool. I believe the actual manufacturer is Emerson that makes the electric stuff. They’ve been around for quite a while. I have the jointer, big spindle sander, bandsaw and other smaller tools. I like the quality and the lifetime guarantee!

Hi Jack – Happy New Years. I bought this router set I guess 4 or 5 years ago without knowing much about routers, or this set in particular. It was $199 and looked to be a pretty good deal. Now that I’ve used it for 4 or 5 years I’d say $159 is a very good deal.

Does it take 1/2” shank?

Hey Survivor – It comes with a 1/4 and 1/2 inch collet, a spindle lock and a flat top. Bit change outs are one wrench no brainers. I cut and paste the following specs and propaganda from the HD website. It is listed at $199 on the website, so I’m not sure if the $159 is local pricing or in store pricing. One thing the specs don’t mention is this Ridgid model is designed to accept Porter Cable accessories, like fences and such.

The RIDGID 2 HP Multi Base Router Combo offers both plunge and fixed base options to accommodate a wide variety of routing applications. The 2 peak horsepower motor provides the power necessary to rout through dense materials, while electronic feedback offers consistent speed and power. The fixed base features micro depth adjustment with through-table capability, and the plunge base has high visible scales to achieve accurate cut depth.
