Hello Fellow Lumberjocks,

I recently purchased a Delta LA 200 lathe off of craigslist. The original owner said that it was only used to produce three columns and has been sitting in the shop for the past three years and hasn’t been used. The capacitor died two weeks after I bought it. I replaced it with one I had in my dust collector, and it’s working great now. Now I’m wondering if I should service the motor. I’ve read conflicting advice about lubricating the bearings on the motor, and wondered if anyone knew if it was a good idea or not to lubricate the bearings? If so, what kind of oil is recommended?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

Most motor bearing,on this size motor, are sealed. I’m not sure they can be lubricated.
