17-3/4” for adult hanger.
12” for child’s.

Push comes to shove, they sell three adult hangers for a bit over twenty bucks.

That’s how Norm always did it—reverse engineer ;-)

A Shaker clothes hangar raises some interesting observations that I experienced at a tour of the Whitewater Shaker village back in early October when my son and I attended the WIA Conference in Covington KY. In several of the upstairs rooms we saw numerous “shaker Pins” mounted on the walls. Obviously clothes were hung on them. We also saw one of the largest dressers that I’ve ever seen, that probably held clothes as well. There was no evidence of typical closets with bars to hold hangars. However, I certainly can’t say that the Shakers did not use clothes hangars in other communities.
