Hello,I am a new member. I am a tool and die maker.I have been told that THIS IS THE BEST WOODWORKING FORUM. Years ago , I saw an article about a unique power wood planer. It did NOT have a rotating cutter head.It had a wide blade similar to a hand plane. The board was clamped on its side on a flat table . The single wide planer blade was stroked back and forth the entire length of the board at a high speed.I am looking for information. Any help will be appreciated.tHANK YOU Edwin DIRNBECK

It’s called a super surfacer.

Makita makes them. They aren’t imported
to the US anymore but used ones can be
found.

This is something I never knew about and it’s really cool, but I’m sure equally expensive.

Edit: A replacement knife is $1k :O
