If Yahoo is anything like Google, the ads that appear are based on your browsing history.

Just checked mine and no ads in sight. Try ublock origin.

Rick – I respect your feedback here on L Jocks, both past and present. In my Yahoo! Mail this “new” addition, stands proud above my new emails! I clicked off Rockler to show the fees that Yahoo want for this menace to disappear. Rockler is the predominate vendor to hit me. Here is a screen shot and there are web posts about this, on the net.

Actually, mrunix is not an ignorant troll. He is right that if you delete your cookies you will stop receiving personalized adds such as rockler, and instead you will get generic ads. If you don’t like adds don’t use the internet or even lumberjocks because ads are everywhere. On a more helpful note, if you want to remove ads from the sites you visit, try the Opera browser. It has a free add blocker. Plus it has a free Vpn.

You’re “blocked”. Oh how ignorant the masses are… The issue is “The Fee” for the way the e-mail was originally set up. To tell me not to post here OMG another Hillary supporter!

If I’m not mistaken, this is a woodworkers forum, not a political forum.

How does Yahoo provide you an email service? They do one of two things: 1) they charge you a fee; or 2) they sell ads. Under what model would they provide you a free email service with no way to make money off of it?

Charles, prior to last week; I never had to directly pay for my e-mail. It is this purposely placed “icon” header on my inbox that I find annoying. I can change e-mail accounts or pay the $3.49 per month to remove it. I choose to leave but I was interested to see if fellow L Jocks agreed with Versizon/Yaho’s new approach.
To others,
https://techcrunch.com/2017/06/27/yahoo-mail-rolls-out-a-rebuilt-redesigned-service-including-a-new-ad-free-option/ Prior to the merger with Verizon and the newly launched Yahoo! E-mail about a week ago. They did not have this “annoying header” above the all new e-mails that arrive. Therefore, I have a choice, I can pay the $3.49 per month to remove it or change e-mail accounts, which is the option I am taking. The purpose of this post was to see if fellow, Lumber Jocks are in agreement with me, or maybe they don’t, which is fine. Furthermore, there is the woodworkers supplier Rockler that participates with Yahoo’s new marketing plan and the You Tube woodworkers who continue to use Rockler, as a sponsor.
To personally attack me is their choice and they will be “blocked” Crisstef you are “blocked”

Mr Desert_Woodworker,

I am the internet and this is how I work. When you get something for free from me, the reason is because YOU are my product. I make money by selling YOUR info and access to YOU AND I can charge more if I use your info to target ads to you. My access to your life history makes me money and you gave me that access when you created your account. This is the same for GMAIL, HOTMAIL, OUTLOOK, AOL, YAHOO or any other “free” email service.

Because you have seen fit to visit the website of Rockler in the past, I have that info because you have given it to me to see by signing up for the email service, so I will show you ads for Rockler. Rockler has NO IDEA that you are getting an ad from them. None, nada, zilch. They pay to have their ads posted, just like a mass mailer where they mail ads to anyone who has a subscription to WOOD magazine.

Bottom line, if you want this to end, quit the internet and live in a cave because this is the world you have chosen to live in. If you boycott Yahoo for this, you would have to boycott basically the entire internet.

Are there ways around this, to live in an internet world without allowing such violating access into your life? Of course there are, but good luck figuring that out since you’ve blocked anyone who tried to help and, frankly, I doubt you can figure it out.

Sincerely,
The Internet

Candor – You were doing fine until the last 2 paragraphs then the attack on me figuring it out…- your blocked
You are another one with ZERO projects, blogs, reviews ect…....
To others it is not about the ads but where they placed it to an annoying position- then to stop the annoyance you have to pay.
Notice at the top of the INBOX This header is purposefully designed or force you to see it before reading your e-mails. This change in tactics or marketing came to me a week ago. Not acceptable

I understand your frustration with comparing what you have now to how it used to be, but if they put the notice somewhere else you may not notice it. How good is advertising that no one notices?
