Hello Everyone,

My name is Philip; I am a new community manager joining the site and working alongside Cricket and Juan M.”
And then followed by 186 spam bots :)

————————-

Every so often, I like to cruise over to our sister sites of both Garden and Home Refurb. These other 2 sites are 98% spam bot messages. Poor Philip if he is still around :)
I would like to really dig deep into the projects and garden tips, but the spam keeps me out. I was thinking… Cricket has hands full with LJ’s… surely, the powers that be recognize the disparaging aspect of the other 2 sites which could be turned around to be much better to the level of LJ’s. Could LJ folk help out, at least with the power to rid the spam bots? Just curious… sad to see about those 2 sites.

When I first joined up I went to the other two sites I’ve never went back. Way way to much spam. If they’d get cleaned up they would make nice sites but other than that they are to annoying. Only reason I can think that they haven’t cleaned them up is if u look at the main page it tells how many ppl are members and how many projects and such. I figure the high number probably helps get the advertisers to pay more.
Even on LJ u can see the thousands of forums that’s never been replied too…. why not delete them
There’s many members that’s never posted anything… y not delete them.
Seems lik mayb that would require less space An possible make this site a bit faster
All that being said I am not a computer person so I’m not sure it’s all possible

Simply the other two sites have no value to users or they would not be in the state they are.

We are working on a solution for that site.

Cricket – In the event that those sites are cleaned up could there be a link put at the bottom of the LJs page for the gardening site (I don’t remember the name of it). There is already a link to the Home refurb.. to me it seems like there should be a link to both

oh wow…yep, no more garden site. pity :( with gardening as it is in today’s world, surprised it didn’t succeed as much as LumberJocks did. dang spam bots :( wanted to reply to a gentleman who re-did his bathroom cabinets last month on a great job… but doubt he would read anything after the 35 spam bots littered his project post.

You could send him a PM, I’m sure he would appreciate the comment still.

Can’t even flag spam over there at Refurbers.

Surprising that anyone still posts there. I’ve seen a lot of websites come and go, looks like homerefurbers already went but no one will close the casket.
