Topic tags/keywords: question My iPad has become my computer, but i’ve got no java support, so I can’t upload new project pics or enter contest pics. Is there any work around on the site? Any plans for an LJ app? Help, |

Can you not upload photo’s to a site like Photobucket? Not sure what “java support” encompasses…..? Yeah, if you can transfer your photos to your Ipad, then you should be able to download a Photobucket app and put them on Photobucket that way. Then I would think you could do it no problem. -- Dothan, Alabama Check out my woodworking blog! http://woodworkingtrip.blogspot.com/ Also my Youtube Channel's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SailingAndSuch |

iPad’s are not designed to be content creator’s. iPad’s are content consumption devices. If all you need it to do is get e-mail and surf the web, then you are good to go. To create content, you still need to have at least a laptop or something that is an actual computer. -- You can get more with a kind word and a 2 by 4, than you can with just a kind word. |

Do you have photos on your ipad. If not that is why the choose file button is greyed out. You can upload photos to facebook etc from your ipad. -- mrg |

I can paste URL: info in posts (using photo bucket), but there is no way to add a thumbnail project pic via iPad or iPhone… No select file option. Argh… -- Don't anthropomorphize your handplanes. They hate it when you do that. -- OldTools Archive |

As Sailor suggested, upload to Photobucket (which has a nice App) and then You can use the photo bucket button below to add pics. Like so: |

Another sort of clunky work-around is to use AlwaysOnPC App to emulate a remote Linux desktop. It can link to your Dropbox for uploading pics. That’ll get you your project thumbnail pics. Dan in WV |

Dan- but there isn’t such a workaround for project pics. The site just doesn’t think the iPhone or iPad ‘stores’ pics for direct placement in LJs. -- Don't anthropomorphize your handplanes. They hate it when you do that. -- OldTools Archive |

Smitty, For project pics, I’d suggest trying AlwaysOnPC (http://www.alwaysonpc.com) The interface is a bit clunky, but it can get the job done. It helps to upload pics to Dropbox so you can access that folder from AOPC. If you’re not using Dropbox… You need to. Get on the cloud! |

@mrg – lots of them on pad and iphone. Here’s what I did: Downloaded an updated photobucket app for iphone to my phone, then found the default pic size for imports. That’s a critical piece, because the streamlined iphone app doesnt’ do editing… With those two things in place, it’s a reasonable sequence to include pics in a post. But I still say it should be simpler to collect a file from local iphone or ipad storage direct via the LJs interface that to get it via cyberspace. oh, well. Thanks, all, for the inputs. -- Don't anthropomorphize your handplanes. They hate it when you do that. -- OldTools Archive |
