Topic tags/keywords: jointer grizzly 656p g656

As many of you know I ordered a G656P Jointer on December 8th. It was shipped out Thursday morning and arrived 60 miles south of where I live that Friday. After complaining about UPS and the driver not calling me this past Tuesday I was very upset. I had to wait till yesterday because they only deliver in Williamsburg on Tue/Thur. Needless to say everything was packaged extremely well. There was no dings, cuts or holes in any of the boxes. The driver also told me it was never dropped, put on it’s side or anything, they took extra care in handling them.

The driver and I took both boxes about 80 feet and put them in my garage. I have to say that 7’ plywood crate was one heavy piece of equipment. The driver and I sit for 10-15 minutes chatting and just talking, he was a good guy.

Got the jointer installed today with a help of a friend. Didn’t take too long since both of us have been around that type of stuff before. Did all the calibration for the stuff and everything is flat and dead on. At least it’s accurate enough that I’m satisfied. Did a few test cuts and was extremely pleased. Of course I’ve not put it to use yet, but the moral of this topic is just that I waited extra days and it was well worth the wait. :) :)

I will be writing a detailed review on the initial impression, packaging, etc in a few days. After 6 months or a year i’ll follow up.

Congrats on your new Grizzly! I looked at a picture of it in the catalog and was impressed- 8” jointer w/ 3 HP motor! I bet it will do the job and you’ll be happy with its performance. I’ll be watching for your review and future projects too!

Thanks Lorna. I’m in the process right now, hopefully tomorrow or the next day have one side of my wall completely re-wired with all metal boxes and conduit :)

Congrats on your purchase I am looking forward to those pictures.

It seems that people who live near Grizzly Warehouse, get it first.

Thanks Steven. I tell ya, I would have got it Friday if they delivered on Friday. That’s basically overnight shipping :)

I need to see if I can find a lumber yard or mill pretty close where I live now that can sell me some maple or cherry. Gonna call around on Monday I think.
