I eat and write with my right hand and everything else is with my left hand . I think Porter Cable has the best circular saw going. -- John in Belgrave ,(Slideshow http://cid-69bce320c6d8b119.spaces.live.com/ (Website) http://www.extremebirdhouse.com |

I’m a total lefty. I do play guitar right-handed, because back when I learned, I figured if you had to use both hands anyway, what difference did it make? I’ve never really understood the whole circular saw thing, though. I rarely use one, but it has always seemed to me that a standard saw, with the blade to the right side of the motor (looking from behind) is actually easier for a lefty to use, because holding it in your left hand allows you an easy view of the blade meeting the work. why would I want it to be the other way? I must be missing something. -- Charlie M. "Woodworking - patience = firewood" |

Whew, I was afraid this was going to be a political thread. I am a righty (in both senses). |

Funny stuff, Rikkor. I’m a lefty in pretty much every application. (pretty far right politically if you’re interested Rikkor!) Decent switch hitter back in the day. Being a lefty in a righty world, most of us are a bit more ambidextrous than our RH counterparts by being forced to do tihngs unaturally in a lot of instances. Hadn’t seen a LH circular saw but have seen other occasional tools here and there. -- Jeff, South Carolina |

I am lefty also, but I use my right hand to hand saw, circular saw, use hand tools, golf, throw. I use my left to write, eat, use some hand tools -- Bob K. East Northport, NY |

(choosing to ignore the politics – as we’ve been able to keep all that out of here for this long) I’m not a lefty, (my little one is though) and as the quote goes, most days “I’d give my right arm to be ambidextrous.” -- I am always doing what I cannot do yet, in order to learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso -- http://blanchardcreative.etsy.com -- http://snbcreative.wordpress.com/ |

I’m a lefty and have not had a problem with a standard circ saw. not worth the extra money to me. as for the world not being set up for us lefties, we do have to be more ambidextrous than most. the old saying goes “lefties are the only ones in there right mind” IAN -- woodturners keep things spinning. |

USCJeff: Be careful about calling yourself a switch hitter. That could be worse than somebody getting the wrong idea about your political leanings! -- Charlie M. "Woodworking - patience = firewood" |

I wish I had known that they make left handed circular saws. I am right handed but I like the left handed saws. It would allow me to tilt my head a little to the left to see my cut. -- Gary, East TX -- The longest journey begins with a single step. |

good point Gary, there are times when a left handed saw might have made a difference. -- I am always doing what I cannot do yet, in order to learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso -- http://blanchardcreative.etsy.com -- http://snbcreative.wordpress.com/ |

Lefty here. I have a left handed Makita Circular Saw that I love to hand to my right handed friends. |

I, too, like to see where I am cutting so the right-sided circular saw works great. I always eat and write and cut left-handed but can use both hands equally badly on other tasks Le -- No piece is cut too short. It was meant for a smaller project. |

i write, eat, and sometimes cut left handed. can use either hand for some things and use power tools righty if it’s easier like with a circular saw. most sports are right handed for me. side note- it sure seems like a righties world sometimes esp. with constant run push buttons on some tools that i often engage accidentally when using lefty. greg -- Greg, CT |

I’m not a lefty, but my son who is a future lumberjock is a lefty. Since I was a young man all I wanted was a left handed son to playball with. When he was born I started noticing he might be a lefty. My son will be three this summer and does everything with his left hand but throw. Little fella is even left footed. Funny how things turn out sometimes. |
