How many LJ's are left handed. needless to say I am, mostly.
I ask because I needed to buy a new circular saw and wasn't going to spend much because I don't use it that often anymore. That is until I went to HD and found a Porter Cable left handed circular saw.
What a difference.

I eat and write with my right hand and everything else is with my left hand .
I cut and hammer with my left .
For years i always wondered why i could cut so straight with a circular saw then i figured it out .I have always used a right handed saw so the blade is right in front of me. The only downfall is kick backs are a little scary in the waist area.

I think Porter Cable has the best circular saw going.

I'm a total lefty. I do play guitar right-handed, because back when I learned, I figured if you had to use both hands anyway, what difference did it make?

I've never really understood the whole circular saw thing, though. I rarely use one, but it has always seemed to me that a standard saw, with the blade to the right side of the motor (looking from behind) is actually easier for a lefty to use, because holding it in your left hand allows you an easy view of the blade meeting the work. why would I want it to be the other way? I must be missing something.

Funny stuff, Rikkor. I'm a lefty in pretty much every application. (pretty far right politically if you're interested Rikkor!) Decent switch hitter back in the day. Being a lefty in a righty world, most of us are a bit more ambidextrous than our RH counterparts by being forced to do tihngs unaturally in a lot of instances. Hadn't seen a LH circular saw but have seen other occasional tools here and there.

(choosing to ignore the politics - as we've been able to keep all that out of here for this long)

I'm not a lefty, (my little one is though) and as the quote goes, most days "I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous."

I'm a lefty and have not had a problem with a standard circ saw. not worth the extra money to me.

as for the world not being set up for us lefties, we do have to be more ambidextrous than most.

the old saying goes "lefties are the only ones in there right mind"

I wish I had known that they make left handed circular saws.

I am right handed but I like the left handed saws.

It would allow me to tilt my head a little to the left to see my cut.

Rikkor, I never discuss politics or religion. ;^)
Gary and Scott, neither did I until I ran across it at HD of all places.
Ihmser, the right and left hand saw were the same price, if you mean the cost of the Porter Cable.
I paid less for it, than I paid for the 30 year old Black and Decker (all metal), if you take inflation into account.
USCJeff, I agree "Lefties" not the "politically left", are forced to become ambidextrous.
I can write almost as well right handed as left. neither could be called neat.

i write, eat, and sometimes cut left handed. can use either hand for some things and use power tools righty if it's easier like with a circular saw. most sports are right handed for me.

side note- it sure seems like a righties world sometimes esp. with constant run push buttons on some tools that i often engage accidentally when using lefty.

I'm not a lefty, but my son who is a future lumberjock is a lefty. Since I was a young man all I wanted was a left handed son to playball with. When he was born I started noticing he might be a lefty. My son will be three this summer and does everything with his left hand but throw. Little fella is even left footed. Funny how things turn out sometimes.
