My wife has a co-worker who is opening a higher end consignment shop with good quality used furniture, as well as some local talent such as artwork and woodworking. She has asked me to create some folding privacy screens. I have no trouble with designing and building the frames for such a piece and if I use a solid wood such as a figured veneer overlayed on plywood for the field I am good with that. What I am having trouble with is designing a field of fabric to fill the frame. Any suggestions as to how to support the fabric within the frame would be greatly appreciated. Ideally I would like the piece to be reversible so that it could be used as a divider as well so would want no unfinished fabric edges showing on the backside of the screens. Thanks in advance.

How about a light frame with the fabric wrapped around it mounted in a dado or a rabbit with a molding?

Thanks for the replies. I actually had the same thoughts about supporting the fabric field. I guess I wasn’t to far off base. Thanks. I would love to see some pictures if anyone has any of privacy screens they have built.
