I have resawn a bunch of curly maple to cut the roughs for crib slats. The left overs are 3 1/4” wide by 23” long by 1/4” thick. I have about 14 of them and no idea what to do with it. Any suggestions? I just don’t want to see it become firewood.

Sounds like time to make some nice boxes out of it. Either dovetail or box joint the corners.

Boxes were one of my ideas, but I have never done box joints and don’t think I have the patience for hand cut dovetails.

That does sound like just the right size for some nice boxes. You could also miter the corners and use splines/keys for reinforcement of the joints. find some complimentary wood for the top and bottoms.

Only if it comes right down to it, I guess I’ll give them a good home. LOL!

Glue them up into wide panels and use them for drawer bottoms, dust separators, flat panel doors, back panels, etc

Don’t worry, I am not going to burn that stuff. (but it sure did get some attention). I think I am going to attempt a little box with some purple heart splines. Will post pictures if it works…

A piece of wood is NEVER too small to throw away. Try:

from Cosman’s 'Box Page'. Oh, and Firefighter, boxes can be mitered too. Or (like the pic above) box joints cut w/o a box joint jig on your Table Saw.
