For couple weeks on the Projects forum I have been perplexed by the horizontal “Advertise Here” banner going across pictures and today it went across where you can go to the next page. It seems to appear at random places vertically on some pages and stays put at the bottom on others.

I am visually oriented, but this is different. Anyone else get this affect?

Steve.

It just means what it says, doesn’t it? You can post an advertisement, for a fee, in that spot.
Advertising space for sale.
On this page the top bar has been purchased by Lie-Nielson, the side and bottom are still available, at this moment anyway.

My issue is that the banner offering a chance to advertise is actually blocking content instead of staying fixed. For example I have the banner about “Advertise Here” going through the project pictures or links to the projects of the third row.

I understand what you’re saying Steve, but I haven’t noticed that on my computer. Could be a bug or something. Maybe you could try to quit out of the browser you’re using and start it up again to see if that helps. Or maybe shut your machine all the way down and crank it back up. Have you been have this problem long or has it happened recently?

JJ – I turn it off each night and have it set for automatic updates at shutdown. I’ve noticed it for couple months. Have XP Pro and IE8, nothing fancy.

Doesn’t do that on my computer either but more and more I’m finding stuff like that on all kinds of sites.
especially irritating when they also play a sound track and have a quit button but they won’t quit.

Wow Steve, not sure what to tell you. I can do a lot of things with a computer but I’m not an IT guy. Surely someone on here will be able to offer some help.

I get that occasionally. I’ve given up trying to figure out why computers do things. I just hit refresh, and it goes back where it should be.

Steve:

There are only 2 horizontal banner on the website. One is on the top and one is below the comments. Both are set NOT TO hide text, images or links. If you are using XP Pro, try to install Mozilla Firefox – it’s faster and more reliable than IE8.

It’s doing it right now. It’s not as bad as it is sometimes; now it’s just covering the “widget” logo near the bottom of the screen. But sometimes it’s higher, high enough to literally be on top of the project thumbnails. Here’s a screenshot of how it looks right now:

Here are two more. In the first one, the banner is covering the project gallery page numbers (which is what I think SteveMI was referring to). You can see how it moves around. These are not photoshopped; they are straight screenshots.
