My grandfather just gave me a “Woden” holdfast that comes with two steel collars to install in my bench. Does anyone have insight as to where and how you use your holdfasts most, so that I can make the most of this tool? Thanks

Nathan—Holdfasts are great for holding a workpiece flat on the bench.

A few years ago, Bob Lang wrote a good article on them that appeared in Popular Woodworking. See: http://www.popularwoodworking.com/article/The_Mystery_of_Holdfasts/
