After the holidays are over I plan on making a coffee table and matching end tables. I am rather new to woodworking and I have thought about making the tables with drawers, but i have never done anything like mortise or any of the other stuff, in fact it scares the hell out of me, but I am determined to see this project thru. So if anyone has any ideas or plans that they would want to share I would really appreciate the help. By the way, I plan on using red oak. Thanks again. Jim

What kind of style are you looking for? I think I have a few plans in a few different styles.

Here's one possible starting point.

I’ve built a few things, already, using plans from “WOOD Magazine,” and have found them uniformly accurate, easy to follow, well written, fairly cheap to buy, and with nice results !

Good luck !

Fine Woodworking online has a number of good plans and articles related to the topic at hand. Their online membership (free trial for 14 days I think) is really worth it IMHO for new woodworkers. I’ve gotten a lot from it.

Jim,

I’ve been saving pictures and comments for the past year, just to get some ideas, as I’m going to be building a coffee table in the future. Give me an email address, and I’ll send you what I have collected.
