hello all,

I just ran across a deal last night where i can get a jet tablesaw model # dwts-10jf and a jet mortiser model #j8m5 together for $500. im trying to se if this is a to good to be true deal or not. i allready have a rigid granit top table saw that i have now problems with and like very much other than its hard to find extras for. i know jet is a good name but i dont need two table saws. just like to hear some of my fellow lumberjocks thoughts.

It does sound almost too good to be true. If you can verify that it is a legitimate deal, I would jump on it.

That is an excellent deal if true. Just the table saw is worth the $500..

IIRC, the Jet JWTS-10JF was their basic contractor saw with steel wings and their entry level aluminum fence. It’s an older style contractor saw with the motor hanging out the back, and uses connecting rods as an arbor carriage between the trunnion brackets. It was a decent saw within that class, but IMHO it’s a step down from what you’ve got now.

The Jet mortiser sells new for ~ $300, so a fair price on a used one would be in the $150 range, meaning the used Jet contractor saw is in the $350 range, which seems steep to me. All in all, this isn’t a deal that I’d pounce on.
