I am a newbie to woodworking, and have recently purchased the new Bosch JS470EB barrel grip jigsaw. While it cuts awesome compared to my old craftsman jigsaw, I have one big question. The roller guide seems to position the blade at a slight angle forward into the cut. (The bottom of the blade is pushed into the cut). Is this normal for all orbital JSs? Making notch cuts is difficult due to this angle. I have to stop short of my line or try to tilt the saw forward to make the blade go straight up and down to give a perpendicular finish to the cut. Adjusting the orbital settings does not make this angle disappear. Is this normal or is my saw aligned wrongly? Thanks for any help. Jeff

It should push it out then back. It shouldn’t keep it at any angle. It should do as it says orbit. You either have the wrong blade, it put in wrong, or a bad jigsaw.

Look at it from the side when it is running. It should look like it is going up and down and in and out. Look to see if it has some sort of lock on it and try taking the blade out and placing it back in to see if it is misaligned.

FYI. I contacted Bosch’s online help link. When they got back to me they said that “upon inspection of their Bosch JS470EB barrel grip jigsaw, that the blade was always angled forward, and that if I wanted a square stopped cut I would have to tilt the saw forward at the end of the cut”

To me that is just wrong. For that price ($150), and from that brand I would expected that I could do all the cuts necessary to complete a project. While it cut very smoothly on the curves, I still returned the saw and bought a Dewalt.
