I ran across the Red Rocks booth at the woodworking show last weekend. I had no idea that there was such a school in the area. There are some impressive works pictured on their web site and the student-built workbenches they had on display at the show were fantastic! I’m a guy that builds something to be used, but I wouldn’t want to use the works of art that they were calling work benches. They were too nice to get abused.

I am planning to attend the show/open house you mentioned. Now that I found out about it, I’m thinking of enrolling in a class for the spring semester. Most of what I know is self-taught and I think a class (or several) would really help improve my skills and broaden my horizons.

It will be an amazing show, and the work benchs that get made really are works of art, but you have to use them to really appreciate them. Find me at the show and I will give you a shop tour and point you in the right direction for classes, it is a wonderful program, and you will learn a lot.

Wish I could attend but Michigan is a bit far from Colorado.

I hope they have a good turn out!

Hey L2SD,
I have been taking classes at RRSFW and I can say that they have a great program there. Over 45 different class options, a great shop with tons of tools, both power and hand tools, and an awesome group of instructors and TAs. Look us up when you come by. I highly recommend the open house as a great way to see the incredible variety of classes that you can take.

I grew up in Lakewood. My grandfather and his brothers had the only store between Denver and Golden which they bought in 1901 after leaving the silver mines in the Georgetown/Silver Plume mining district. I wish I could attend. Is Rand still there?
