Hi Dick;

I have a miter saw with a laser guide, but I don’t like it much. In fact I leave the laser turned off.

It’s just one more thing to line up. I prefer to align the blade to the mark.

With the laser, you have to line up the laser with the blade and the mark.

Call me old fashioned.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Barb.

Lee

Hi Lee and all. Happy thanksgiving.

I was wondering which saw you are using?
I have an led/laser light on my Hitachi 12” CMS and have only needed to line the line up with the cut once so far in a couple of years. ( I should check that now I put my foot in it) ;-)
I did a job this week using my old CMS and found that the light was poor and I really had to struggle to leave the line every time.
I had an Irwin retrofit on the old saw but took it off because you had to turn the blade on to see the line.
Not the best solution.

Hate to do this to you because I don’t want to hijack your thread. But Harbor Freight has them for $15 all the time, and if you use one of their coupons found all the time in woodworking magazines you can get it for about ten bucks!

Thanks Jim,
but I don’t know if I’d trust the accuracy of the HF model.

Lee,
I value your judgement, you’ve an awful lot of woodworking experience, but I see a lot of saws that come equipped with them. I too have often wondered about there accuracy.
I think this gadget a Digital Miter Saw Gauge lower down on the page would be very useful though.
