The Coffee Lounge has disappeared from our Forum Topics menu!! Well okay, we couldn’t post there anymore, but there was a lot of fellowship and goodwill, and some pretty valuable information posted there, never to be seen by our eyes again. And now it’s gone. Yeah, I know, there was some bad things going on there, and I won’t question the reasons for closing it…BUT…It was a unique body of work that represents all of us who participated there, in a way it defined who we are in our collective identity as woodworkers. Well, maybe it was a drain on resources, to maintain all that text, I don’t know, but a chunk of us is gone now. I’d hoped, and presumed, that it would remain [Read Only] for reference and browsing purposes. I’ll miss it!!

this subject has been beaten to death and this thread will probably be removed, as it does not go along with forum rules…if you will read the rules and what martin has asked…then you will see that is probably doesnt need to be hashed again…....just my 2 cents…good luck…

Nope Grizzman, read it again. This is a new development TODAY, the subject of which has not been brought up previously: The fact that the “Coffee Lounge” is not listed in the Forum Menu anymore, not even as a read-only site. This is a new development on the Lumberjocks website, and indeed quite germaine to a “Site Feedback” type of posting. Still pushing peoples’ buttons, Grizzman? It’s very disruptive.

PK:
I agree with you 100% about the Coffee Lounge…. I miss it too!!! Just not the same anymore. This site used to be fun, and discussions of other topics besides “just wood” have gone by the wayside….I feel like I’m back in the military when I get on here. I understand that it got a little out of hand and rowdy sometimes, but the Lounge was a good place to blow off a little steam sometimes when the topic of wood and woodworking got a little boring (to me, anyway). I like ww as much as anyone, but it gotten to be a one-topic forum…..Too bad.

It is still there, you just need to know the secret to getting into it…. computer savey can get you into it. I just checked it minute ago. Still there, just not readily visible. A little known secret from one of the drum forums computer gurus, got me in….

Not sure if it will be removed completely eventually though.

Mystery Solved!! Yes it is still available for viewing, though not visible in the forum list anymore; perhaps ‘RobWoodcutter’ will come forward and divulge the path. Pretty clever of the Administrators to make that forum invisible on the menu, yet still available to those who wish to visit it and re-read some very valuable postings from some good people and great advice from well-experienced woodworking veterans. It’s a valuable resource and I was deeply concerned that it had been obliterated forever!

Not much of a secret. Took me two minutes to find it. Surf over the links on the Forum main page. You’ll get it.

Thanks, Timbo! I’ll admit to not having the savvy of website administrators, and I really did begin to think that the whole body of work in “Coffee Lounge” was lost forever! It’s good to know that we can refer back to the technical chats, and other tidbits, rather than having to initiate new threads for that hard-to-find information! Even if we can no longer participate there. I’ve got the link as a desktop shortcut now!! Thanks for all the helpful responses!!
